Donor Programs
Monthly Giving
You can support the Milton District Hospital with easy and automatic monthly donations from your chequing account, savings account or your creditcard. Simply tell us how much you would like to donate to the Milton District Hospital Foundation's Monthly Giving Program and we'll automatically transfer your donations or charge your creditcard each and every month.
Your gift will help provide funding for new and replacement medical equipment and financing of many services that wouldn't exist without the extra funding the Foundation provides.
With the Monthly Giving Program, you can share whatever you can-EACH and EVERY donation is important-, change your donation amount at any time, and you will receive a registered charitable tax receipt. ALL donations remain at Milton District Hospital.
Planned Gifts
Gift Planning means planning to make a gift in the future. Your commitment is made now, with the transfer of your gift happening at a later date. Examples of planned gifts are bequests, life insurance, cash and real estate. Gifts-in-kind can also be included, such as jewellery or art work. Using careful financial planning, you can benefit your tax profile while making a significant difference to your community. If you would like further information on the many ways you can benefit the Milton District Hospital through Planned Gifts please contact the Foundation Office or your financial advisor.
Gifts of Securities
If you own publically traded securities or mutual funds that have increased in value, you may want to consider donating the securities directly to Milton District Hospital Foundation. As of May 2006, the capital gains tax has been eliminated on gifts of appreciated securities to charities, resulting in considerable tax savings for donors. The benefit of this plan is two-fold; fulfil your wish of making that important contribution to your local community hospital and then reward yourself by maximizing your tax benefits. It is a Win-Win scenario.
It’s simple. Decide which appreciated securities or mutual funds you wish to donate, and instruct your broker to transfer shares electronically to MDHF. You will receive a tax receipt for the closing price of the securities on the date they are received by MDHF’s brokerage account. Contact us in advance and we will provide the necessary information to help facilitate a smooth and prompt transfer.
Remember this scenario works only with the donation of stock directly to MDHF. Take the time to review this idea with your financial planner and together we can change the future of our hospital. A gift of publically traded securities is a highly tax-effective gift option, whether given today or in the future through a bequest in your will. In Memoriam Program (Memorializing loved ones)
Family members or friends are easily and thoughtfully remembered with a donation to the Milton District Hospital Foundation. The Foundation provides acknowledgement of your thoughtfulness to the next of kin. Donations are often made in memory of a friend or family member. When such donations are received, the MDH Foundation notifies the next of kin, recognizing the name of the donor who sent a gift and in whose memory. The dollar amount of the donation is not disclosed. To make an In Memoriam donation, please print our Donation Form and mail or fax it to the MDH Foundation. As per April 1st, 2010 the donor recognition policy has changed and will recognize cumulative gifts of $1,000 or more.
In Honour or Tribute Giving
Honour your loved ones or friends on special occasions in a unique way. Give a "Gift of Honour" in their name to the Foundation. You may choose to honour Christmas, an anniversary, a graduation or a birthday. Commemorate any occasion - best wishes, thinking of you, get well, etc. The Foundation will notify the recipient of your gift with a special letter or card. To make a tribute donation, please print our Donation Form and mail or fax it to the MDH Foundation.
